PerDiem Games is a free collection of daily puzzle games that runs in your browser. Here are the questions people ask most. Questions about one game's rules are answered in its guide.
Getting started
What is PerDiem Games?
A free collection of 23 daily puzzle games: crosswords, word games, and logic, card, shape and number puzzles. Every game has a new puzzle each day.
Is it free?
Yes. Every game is free to play.
Do I need to download anything?
No. It runs in your browser on a phone or a computer. On a phone you can save it to your home screen so it opens like an app. See Using it as an app.
Which game should I try first?
Mini, a 5 by 5 crossword, takes a minute or two. Association, a word-grouping puzzle, is just as quick to learn. If you want something with more strategy, try Delve. The guides have every game's rules.
Accounts
Do I need an account?
No. You can play every game without one. An account keeps your streaks and progress across devices in most games, and unlocks leaderboards and friends. Association, Clockwise, Enigma, Glide, Hearsay, Masonry, Portion and Seams keep their stats in the browser you play in for now.
How does sign-in work without a password?
Enter your email and we send you a code. Type the code in and you're signed in. There's no password to remember.
Can I change my username?
Yes. Open the Account menu on the home page, edit your username and save. Other players see your username, never your email.
How do I delete my account?
Open the Account menu on the home page and choose Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, username and synced progress, and it can't be undone. Progress stored in your browser stays there.
Streaks and stats
How do streaks work?
A streak counts the days in a row you've finished a game's daily puzzle. Miss a day and it starts again. Each game keeps its own streak, and some games only count wins. The game's guide says which.
Can I hide streaks or timers?
Yes. Signed-in players can turn off Show streaks and Show timers in the Account menu. Streaks are still tracked, just hidden. With timers off, times also disappear from anything you share.
Daily puzzles
When does the next puzzle arrive?
At midnight, your local time.
Is everyone's puzzle the same?
Yes. Everyone gets the same puzzle each day, so you can compare results.
Do puzzles get harder during the week?
In many games, yes. Midi's grid grows from 9 by 9 early in the week to 11 by 11 by Friday. Delve's dungeon gets longer while your starting health drops. Each guide explains how its game changes.
Past puzzles
Can I play yesterday's puzzle?
Yes. The results screen in every game has a strip of the last seven days. Tap a day to play it.
How far back can I go?
Back to each game's first puzzle. Leaderboards only count the current day's puzzle.
Friends and leaderboards
How do I add friends?
Sign in, open Friends from the top of the home page and search for a username. They'll get a request to accept. Every leaderboard then has a Friends version next to the global one.
Which games have leaderboards?
Most of them. Association, Clockwise, Enigma and Portion don't have one yet. Leaderboards need an account.
Can I stay off leaderboards?
Yes. Turn off Appear on leaderboards in the Account menu. You can still play and keep your streaks.
Sharing
How do I share a result?
Finish a puzzle and tap Share on the results screen. On a phone it opens your share sheet. On a computer it copies your result so you can paste it into a message or a post. Every result has the same shape: the game and puzzle number, then your result, then a link.
Will sharing spoil the answer?
No. By default, shared results show your time or score, and sometimes a grid of colored squares, but never the answers. Five games (Route, Exhibit, Scope, Theorem and Seams) also offer a "With spoilers" option that adds a picture of your board or your route. Each result ends with a link to the game, so friends can play the same puzzle.
Playlists
What is a playlist?
A list of games you play back to back, in the order you choose. When you finish one game, its results screen has a button that takes you straight to the next.
How do I build or change one?
On the home page, tap Create a playlist, then tap games in the order you want them and save. Use the edit button on your playlist to change it or delete it.
Using it as an app
How do I add it to my home screen?
On an iPhone, open perdiem.games in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the three dots in the top corner, then choose Install app (or Add to Home screen). Signed-in players will also find a How to use as app guide in the Account menu.
Sound and accessibility
How do I mute sound and haptics?
Every game has a mute button. One tap mutes sound and haptics in every game.
Does it respect reduced motion?
Yes. If your device is set to reduce motion, the games tone down their animations.
